Hotel Scam Alert!

Please remember, if you receive a phone call from someone identifying themselves as a “Convention Housing” organization or an “Expo Representative” offering lower rates for Convention at the Green Valley Ranch Resort & Spa, do not give them any credit card information as the Green Valley Ranch does not randomly call guests with offers like this, nor has the resort or WMA contracted with any convention housing organization! Do not provide any information or accept a confirmation number UNLESS you contacted Green Valley Ranch directly by calling 866.782.9487.

Guestroom Reservations

Please make your hotel reservations directly with the Green Valley Ranch. Get the nightly rate of $140 for run of house (Sunday through Thursday). The cut-off date for reservations is September 10th. Reservations received after September 10th will be accepted on a space-and-rate-availability basis. Available guest rooms are at a minimum as of September 10. Rates will increase to $230 per night after the block is gone.

Dates: October 7-10, 2018
By phone, use Group Name GCIWMA or click here.

You can make your reservation in one of two ways:

Make your reservation online by clicking on link above — it will take you directly to the hotel’s website specifically set up for WMA; or, call the hotel at 866.782.9487 to make your reservation over the phone using the Group Name GCIWMA.

Please be advised that all rates are per room, per night — single or double occupancy. Triple and quad occupancy will be charged $25 per person per night and will be added to your guest room for each guest aged 18 years or older. No further charges for guests under 18 years of age using existing bedding.

A resort fee of $15 per night plus tax will be applied to each guest room. This fee includes basic daily in-room internet (normally $13 per day), daily newspaper, scheduled shuttle to and from McCarran International Airport and the Strip, and admission to the exercise facility (normally $30 per day) at the resort.

Porterage and housekeeping gratuities will be at the discretion of the individual guest.

Culinary Union

Two years ago we brought to your attention the issues between Green Valley Ranch and the Culinary Union. WMA regrets this dispute, but we are confident it will not affect our convention, and we will continue to hold the convention at the property. If you are contacted by the Culinary Union, please know that you can ask to be removed from their phone and email list.

Golf Tournament

The Legacy Golf Club is this year’s home to WMA’s Convention & Expo golf tournament—a benefit for the Frank J. Evans Charitable Foundation. Designed by acclaimed golf course architect Arthur Hills, The Legacy Golf Club is an 18-hole, desert jewel highlighted by manicured playing conditions, multi-tiered fairways and large undulating greens. Stretching 7,233 yards from the professional tees, this memorable layout is a strong challenge for the scratch player, yet also accommodates the novice with well-spaced tee boxes and generous landing areas. Also notorious at this premier facility, is the “Devil’s Triangle.” Holes 11, 12, and 13 make for a devilish trio of exciting challenges. The Legacy has become synonymous in Las Vegas for providing country club-style services and amenities. In fact, The Legacy Golf Club was selected as one of the “Top 10 Courses You Can Play” in Nevada, by Golf Digest.

The course is located at 130 Par Excellence Drive, Henderson, NV 89074. Phone 702.897.2200. From Las Vegas Boulevard “The Strip”: Take I-15 South to 215 East exit Green Valley Parkway North. Go three stoplights to Wigwam turn right then take your first left into The Legacy Golf Club. Approximate driving time 15-25 minutes. From McCarran International Airport: Exit the airport stay to the right and follow signs to 215 East. Follow 215 East and exit Green Valley Parkway North. Go three stoplights to Wigwam turn right then take your first left into The Legacy Golf Club. Approximate driving time 10-20 minutes.

Your $160 golf tournament fee includes a boxed lunch, two drink tickets and round-trip transportation. Please indicate on the form whether you will use the shuttle.

Evans Charitable Foundation will be announced. Greg Evans will reveal this year’s recipients for deserving youth residing in WMA-member communities. Perhaps one of them is from your community! After that, WMA’s Legislative Advocate, Catherine Borg, will give a brief legislative update and announce the winners of WMA’s hotly contested golf tournament held on Monday, October 8. Closing the luncheon will be Doug Johnson with updates on rent control.

Right after lunch, you’ll head into the opening of the Expo.

Expo Opening — Tuesday, October 9

The Expo will once again open right after lunch! You will have over two hours on the Expo floor before returning back to the educational seminars.

Welcome Reception and Wine Tasting — Tuesday, October 9

It’s become a tradition! You will LOVE wine tasting event. This evening also includes a dinner buffet in the Expo. We’ve planned another exciting show for you! Exhibitors have been invited to bring their favorite wines again! This is always a great time to reconnect with other Expo attendees or get to know new people! The Expo continues on Wednesday, stopping only for the Annual Meeting and Luncheon. Stop in between seminars! You’ll experience a dynamic day interacting with outstanding exhibitors who represent cutting edge products and services of the industry. Drawings will be held at the close of Expo on Wednesday. The Expo will close at 3:00 p.m. — don’t miss the drawings!

Annual Meeting and Luncheon — Wednesday, October 10

Take a well-deserved break from the fast paced action of the Expo and educational seminars. Join us for the Annual Meeting and Luncheon. It is a great opportunity to be introduced to new members, as well as continuing members of WMA’s leadership ― all in one place.

A plated lunch is provided ― delicious food and drink to satisfy your hungry appetite. This is followed with our formal program. An award will be presented to a deserving member whose political contributions have stood out above and beyond all those who continuously support WMA. Another award will be presented to a member whose selfless contributions have impacted the industry. During the Annual Meeting, you’ll also learn the state of WMA, and see the new Board of Directors for 2018-2019 elected and sworn in.

Once all the business has been dealt with, we have some entertainment for you! Kevin Blake is the best magician you’ve probably never hear of! Kevin can read minds. Predict the future. See into your memories. Stop time — or maybe he can’t — and it’s all an illusion. There are no rabbits, top hats, or cutting people in half here — Kevin is known for cutting edge magic that absolutely confounds and totally engrosses. In doing so, he brings magic, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century.

Don’t be in such hurry! We haven’t forgotten dessert! Come follow us into the Expo and enjoy your dessert as you visit our exhibitors one more time!

President’s Dinner Dance — Wednesday, October 10

Next, join us in feting the 2018 recipient of WMA’s most recognized and esteemed honor: The Busch, Carr & McAdoo Memorial Award.
