The Governor’s Budget
By Chris Wysocki

The Legislature is gearing up. The Governor’s 2023-24 Budget has been released. Last year’s $100 billion surplus has turned into a $22 billion deficit, but most experts agree the deficit will be closer to $50 billion due to decreased capital gains tax receipts.

WMA is already playing defense against statewide rent control and other measures making it more difficult to own and operate manufactured housing communities that helps address and solve California’s housing crisis.
Over the coming months, WMA will request legislators to attend park tours across the state to educate them about benefits our industry provide to residents.

If you are interested in hosting a park tour, please email me at chris@wma.org.

This year is “all hands on deck” as we fight to protect our industry.
Legislation, local ordinances, and litigation are some of the tools we use to ensure mobilehomes remain a viable solution to California’s housing crisis.

Chris Wysocki is WMA’s Legislative Advocate. He can be reached at chris@wma.org.
