Los Angeles County Clean Water, Clean Beaches Measure
Official Notice to Property Owners of Public Hearing
Recently, you should have received or will receive an Official Notice to Property Owners of Public Hearing by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors regarding a new annual fee that the Los Angeles County Flood Control District is proposing to implement the Clean Water, Clean Beaches Measure. The fee is substantial. One park in LA County estimates their fee will be over $20,000 per year and another park’s fee is estimated at $36,000. Both of these parks are in rent controlled cities and would not be permitted to pass these fees on to their residents.
WMA is urging all parkowners in Los Angeles County to:
- Read the materials mailed to them on this new Clean Water, Clean Beaches Measure.
- Return the protest form included with your notice.
- Protest the fee by attending the LA Board of Supervisors’ hearing on January 15, 2013 at 9:30 am, located at the Board of Supervisors Hearing Room, Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 West Temple Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
If the Board of Supervisors has not received written protests
against the proposed fee by a majority of property owners before
the end of the public hearing, the Board of Supervisors may
authorize an election to approve the fee. The election will most
likely be the March, 2013 LA mayoral election. If you have
questions, please call David Evans, WMA’s Southern California
Regional Representative, at (661) 245-3719. You can find a sample of the notice sent to your fellow parkowners linked on this page so you know what to be looking for. The proposed fee is printed on your notice. You can find a link to the Clean Water fee methodology to the right, as well the WMA opposition letter.
